The IAM Security Architect will provide subject matter expertise and support for the delivery of the University’s Cyber Security Enablement Program (the Program), a multi-year initiative designed to materially reduce the University’s exposure to cyber security risk through the implementation of technology and business changes. The primary purpose of the IAM Security Architect role is the development and establishment of IAM governance framework, IAM governance architecture, architectural principles and IAM controls. This role is also responsible for implementation of Saviynt Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solution, design and implementation of Entra External ID to deliver Cyber Security IAM Strategy and Roadmap. The role requires broad strategic thinking and significant engagement with the senior stakeholders across the University.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Lead the development, communication and implementation of cyber security IAM architecture goverance principles, framework, policies and standards for Program-related initiatives, in alignment with the University’s cyber security IAM strategy & enterprise architecture.
- Design IAM governance structure: define roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes for IAM governance.
- Design and establish an IAM steering committee, designating IAM owners and stakeholders, and defining the accountability of various stakeholders in IAM-related decisions.
- Review and update IAM Policies and Standards that define the rules, requirements, and best practices for managing identities, access controls, authentication, authorization, and other IAM-related processes.
- Define IAM architecture principles that guide the design, development, and implementation of IAM solutions – Entra External ID.
- Design IAM architecture data model for Entra External ID to integrate with Saviynt Identity Governance and Administration (IGA).
- Provide architectural oversight and support for application onboarding over the Program lifecycle by liaising with relevant business, technology and project stakeholder groups.
- Engage with key stakeholders to communicate the benefits of the IAM architectures, plans and in support of delivery of Program objectives.
- Work as part of a multi-discipline Program team developing strategies and roadmaps including definition of roadmap projects, costing and benefits.
- Proactively identify and escalate potential risks and ensure security is appropriately addressed.
- Manage the development of risk management plans, establishment of risk controls and performance of risk mitigation activities.
- Any other duties appropriate to this position as may be required by the Program Director – Cyber Security Transformation.

Skills and experience:
- Extensive experience in shaping and driving the security design and deployment of major cyber security transformation programs, including (but not limited to):
- Identity and Access Management
- Identity Governance and Administration
- Network segmentation and security
- Zero-Trust Security
- Hybrid security operations
- Cloud security and resilience
- Extensive experience with Identity and Access Management IAM, including:

- Strategy and roadmap definition
- IAM governance principles and structure
- IAM policies, standards and architectural principles
- Developing Conceptual Architectures, High Level Architecture
- Attention to details and experience documenting Detailed Level Architecture.
- IAM Integration Patterns including Authentication and Application Onboarding Patterns.
- Role-based and Attribute-based access management and identity governance
- Identity Lifecycle for various cohorts including Internal, External and Non-Human Identities.
- Microsoft ecosystem specifically Entra ID, External ID etc.
- Identity Governance & Administration Market leader products such as Saviynt.
- Identity data model standardisation
- Identity operating model
- Access management standards (e.g. SAML, OAuth, SCIM)
- Trust Models
- Privileged access management including Delinea, Saviynt etc.
- Relevant industry certification(s), e.g. SABSA, TOGAF, CISM, CISSP, GIAC is highly desired.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring that the underlying problem is understood, and a robust approach / solution is developed.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including the ability to develop effective relationships and influence key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle high demand situations with management and key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence other senior technical and business stakeholders, without these people being direct reports.
- Experience in the University / Higher Education sector desirable.
