Why your role matters

The Power Platform Developer plays a key role in facilitating development and implementing learning analytics solutions from the Learning Analytics Intelligence (LAI) group within the Innovation team of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education portfolio. The solutions developed by this role will be provisioned for all students and staff at UNSW.

About the Role

Reporting to the LAI Project Manager, you will be required to undertake and have experience in the following areas of expertise:

  • Develop, customize, and maintain a Microsoft Power Platform solution including Canvas app, Model-driven app, dataflow, Power Automate, Power BI, MS Dataverse, Power Pages and Copilot Studio.
  • Design and implement user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, .NET and React to enhance the functionality and user experience of Power Platform applications.
  • Collaborate with UNSW IT, UNSW Planning & Performance (UPP), stakeholders and UX/UI designers to analyse and gather requirements, translating them into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Provide technical advice on design, feasibility, development, testing, deployment, operation and maintenance stages of the solutions lifecycle.
  • Translate rapid prototyping of complex applications into operational-ready solutions implemented at an institutional scale.
  • Work within an agile methodology and UNSW guidelines and policies to deliver applications efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, performance, and responsiveness of applications, making them a strategic priority.
  • Conduct testing and debugging to ensure applications are free of errors and meet performance standards.
  • Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and optimization for existing applications.
  • Integrate Power Platform applications with various data sources via Custom Connectors or APIs.

About You

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (or a related/relevant discipline) or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training or experience.
  • Certified proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, and Copilot Studio.
  • Strong front-end development skills, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Experienced in React is preferred.
  • Experience with building Custom Connector in Power Platform and consuming Restful APIs and working with various data sources.
  • Proven Experience in development with Power FX and SQL.
  • Proven experience in translating rapid prototyping of applications to complex operational-ready solutions at an institutional scale.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders, UX/UI designers, and team members.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
