Why your role matters
We are seeking a Senior Project Officer to join the Student Experience Program, where you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects across multiple workstreams. In this position, you will provide vital program management support, including the development and maintenance of project schedules, financial tracking, and oversight of risks, issues, dependencies, and resource planning.
Your responsibilities will also include essential administrative tasks such as managing program documentation, preparing materials for Steering Committee meetings, scheduling, and minute-taking.
This is a collaborative role that requires you to work closely with internal team members and a diverse range of stakeholders across the University. To succeed, you will need strong time management, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to help drive timely and effective project outcomes.
Reporting to the Student Experience Program Manager, the role does not have any direct reports but offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute meaningfully to projects that enhance the student experience.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
- Support the Program Managers to create and maintain the project/program schedule, including identifying and tracking key milestones, work breakdown structure, task dependencies and the critical path.
- Manage program financials and spend to ensure program is within budget constraints, updated project financial forecasts and ensure timely processing of invoices.
- Proactively lead and manage adherence to the agreed EPMO governance framework to ensure the program is managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for successful program design and implementation.
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of training and experience.
- Proven project officer experience, with an understanding of the project/program life cycle and the development and maintenance of plans and register.
- Proven experience in large scale transformation programs with multiple projects / workstreams
- Proven experience in managing project financials
- High level of experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS Office, MS Project, Altus, JIRA, Confluence.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively whilst prioritising tasks in a fast-pasted and demanding environment.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Knowledge and understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment and change management principles.
