Together, we are driven to be thoughtful, practical, and purposeful in all we do. Taking this combined approach is what makes our work matter. It’s the reason we’re one of the top 20 universities in the world and a member of Australia’s prestigious Group of Eight. If you want a career where you can thrive, be challenged and do meaningful work, you’re in the right place.
Why Your Role Matters:
Are you a creative communicator with a passion for digital storytelling and community engagement? Join the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA) at UNSW as our next Social Media Officer – a hands-on, sociable role where no two days are the same.
Working as part of the UNSW Division of Societal Impact, Equity and Engagement (DSIEE), you’ll help shape how ADA is seen online – showcasing our world-class research, student experiences, and events through compelling, on-brand content across multiple platforms.
You'll work closely with the Senior External Engagement Manager and News & Content Coordinator, acting as the key liaison for all ADA social media activity. From content planning to execution, analytics to community management, you’ll play a central role in driving our social presence and engaging diverse audiences.
What you’ll be doing:
- Act as the key liaison for all ADA social media activity, escalating to the News & Content Coordinator where needed.
- Support the implementation of the ADA social media strategy
- Manage and contribute to a fast-paced, engaging content calendar
- Create and publish high-quality content across platforms, in line with brand and style guidelines.
- Repurpose and adapt content from across the university for ADA’s social media channels.
- Assist with content creation and coordination including copy, video, and graphics.
- Monitor channels, support community engagement, and help manage risk
- Track content performance and report on key metrics to inform improvements.
- Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders across the Faculty and University.
What we’re looking for:
- A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, digital media or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a social media role, ideally in a mid to large organisation.
- Strong communication and copywriting skills, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences and platforms.
- Experience building online audiences and managing content calendars across multiple platforms.
- Proficiency with tools like Canva, Photoshop, CapCut, or Premiere Pro is highly desirable.
- A solid understanding of social media trends, algorithms, and audience behaviours.
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in a complex environment.
- Strong organisation and time management skills.
- A team player who is creative, proactive, and eager to learn.
