Why The Role Matters:

The Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture currently has over 25 research facilities, including labs, clusters, hubs, and networks, in addition to six official UNSW centres and multiple grants funded research-intensive groups. Specialisations across these groups include adaptive technology for health and inclusion; computational design, data analytics and automated decision making; creative and cultural sector innovations; critical and social analysis of technology; generative AI, simulation and immersive visualisation; human-technology interactions and social robotics; socio-technical advances for climate, security and urban futures; spatial planning, architectural and manufacturing transformations.

This role entails coordinating access to, and development of, our most active research facilities to maximise the value and benefit of our research technology and infrastructure across UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture disciplines.


Accountabilities:

  • Actively promote and improve visibility of ADA research technology facilities across the faculty, the University and external stakeholders.
  • Consult, liaise and develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve improved outcomes for these groups and develop in depth knowledge of ADA infrastructure and technology.
  • Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Work with key UNSW stakeholders to improve efficiencies in the context of developing and increasing accessibility to research infrastructure, including IT, finance and operations teams.
  • Develop and monitor the delivery of business improvement projects as required.
  • Coordinate VIP visits and other strategic outreach activities across ADA’s research facilities in consultation with the relevant lab/facility manager, ensuring relevant approvals have been obtained (e.g. approvals for international visits via the ADA Associate Dean International, risk assessments etc).
  • Assist research facilities and tech enabled groups in navigating and understanding university requirements, and manage compliance and regulatory requirements across faculty groups, including critical infrastructure audits.
  • Design, implement and manage databases and information systems to collate and track the faculties research infrastructure and maintain reporting and performance monitoring to feed into relevant faculty strategy and operations.

Skills and Experience:

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
  • Ability to plan, organise and coordinate projects and tasks.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS Office, Adobe Suite.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Sound influencing and consultation skills and proven ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
